Polymer Processing Aid Masterbatch

Polymer Processing Aid Masterbatch

M.G. POLYBLENDS has designed Polymer Processing Aid masterbatch in such a way that it improves the processing of polyolefins (ie. LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE etc) alongwith other benefits such as reduction in die build up, melt fracture , back pressure and increase in gloss and output.

It consists of uniformly dispersed fluoropolymer based additive in polyolefin carrier resin.

DOSAGE : 1-1.5% is used depending on the polymer and machine condition. Polymer containing antiblock, UV stabilizer, inorganic pigment such as Tio2, slip, antistatic, Calcium stearate, Zinc Stearate, Zinc Oxide, may require slightly higher dose level of Polymer Processing Aid masterbatch.
Note: The user must ensure that all metal surfaces coming in contact with polymer are thoroughly cleaned so that they become properly coated with PPA.

WHY YOU SHOULD USE PPA

Many polyethylene film products, including packaging film, garbage bags, grocery bags and sheeting, are produced using the blown film extrusion process. A surface defect called melt fracture can occur during LLDPE processing. Melt fracture causes roughness on the film surface, which gives the film a poor appearance and, in the more severe cases, reduces film strength. LLDPE with lower MFI which are increasingly used to improve film toughness, has a tendency to melt fracture than comparable resins with higher melt indices.

PPA reduces melt fracture and back pressure by migrating from the polyethylene melt and coating the metal of the die, where it acts as a lubricant to reduce apparent viscosity and shear stresses in the melt. As a result, the required power for processing is significantly decreased.
